ODROID is a brand of SBC produced by Hardkernel in South Korea, beginning in 2009. Around 2016, we at Quarkiness had need of a bit more processing power, RAM, and ethernet speed than contemporary Pi offerings had.

We needed the bigger RAM in order to support full desktop installations of Linux. This allowed extensive, capable, and comfortable HCI, running on a tiny SBC. These devices mostly ran 24/7, and we found the stability to be excellent. There were some minor problems such as fan noise and dust accumulation, which were solved by using good cases.

There is large ODROID support community and an official magazine (not sure of current publication status). There is also a large third-party market of accessories.
